Our President, Larry Barry, has asked that we let you all know about the State FFA Alumni Banquet. If anyone would like to go to the State FFA Banquet to contact Larry at 824-9060. The banquet is Friday, January 31, 2014 at 6:30 at Northfield in Springfield.
Many exciting auction items will be featured this year including: corn and soybean seed, themed baskets, hotel stays, gift cards, RAM's "Year of the Farmer" and more. Unique hand-made items from across the state have also been donated, including the bench featured in the picture above from the Cambridge FFA Alumni chapter. The five major State FFA officers will also be up for auction. Other events in-store for attendees are an idea exchange between FFA Alumni chapters from across the state, workshops featuring ideas for building a stronger Alumni chapter, fundraising & more, a featured speaker during Friday night's banquet dinner, and a live auction Friday night and Saturday upon the conclusion of lunch. The Illinois FFA State Officer team will be presenting about their experience in South Africa and take us on a walk through their cultural, historical and agricultural tour of the country Saturday morning.
At the 86th National FFA Convention, held in Louisville, Kentucky, Taylorville had two FFA members obtain the highest degree that is possible for an FFA member to attain, the American FFA Degree. Rochelle Meteer and Kyle Hadden walked across the stage November 2nd in front of an audience of over 30,000 FFA members, parents, and guests.
